I've completed my YTTC with Chandra Yoga International and the team, now i'm teaching yoga in my Yoga School and around the world. I'm very thankfull to the multistyle yoga because it gives you tools in many different kind of Yoga such as Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha yoga, Pranayama, Mantra, Meditation. The atmosphere was of good sadhana but in a happy and family mood, the kitchen guys they are very funny and best cooks. Always some crazy yogi teacher its coming and giving us a surprise of knowledge. The most of teacher they have a Indian clasic education in yoga what gives the true essence in the practice. I'm very greatfull to my teachers and specially to Dr Sushil for give the opportunity to have a true experience on Yoga. I highly recommend this school to everybody.Posted on Shishpal RawatTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've just completed a 200-hour teacher training course at Chandra Yoga International and, unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. There were, of course, positives: it was a small class of students because it's the off-season (April/May is really hot), so we got to know each other and had time for questions. There are a couple great teachers at the school, but the others aren't very good. Overall there was a complete lack of coordination and communication, and the different classes within the course were barely linked together. While a handbook/workbook created by the school was provided, most of our teachers weren't familiar with it and didn't refer to it whatsoever. There was very little, if any, attention paid to what we needed to learn in order to be good teachers. In fact, although the website says we would learn about teaching methodology, we didn't have a single class on the topic. There were maybe ten pages on teaching in our handbook but we didn't even discuss them in class. We asked about this multiple times and the best we got was a suggestion that one of our yoga teachers could tell us about how to teach one day instead of our regularly scheduled yoga class. This sounded good but our yoga teachers didn't have anything in particular to tell us about how to teach, so we just asked whatever questions we could think of. This meant that we only got information about topics that we could think of, rather than the benefit of guidance from expert teachers. Regardless, we didn't get much out of these discussions because of a steep language barrier and what seems like a lack of reflection on teaching methodology by our teachers. So unfortunately, the only way we learned to teach in this course was teaching 1.5 hours of yoga and 45 min of meditation. Although we got some feedback on these classes, which was helpful, it wasn't enough feedback or enough time to try teaching, get feedback, learn, and improve. My overall conclusion is that this program isn't built to produce yoga teachers. It's basically a mediocre yoga retreat for people who are beginner or intermediate yoga practitioners. In fact, it didn't seem to matter what or how well you did in the course; everyone graduates. For example, there were two people in our class who had to leave the course early and actually weren't there long enough to complete the 200 hours; not even the full teaching practicum in one case. This didn't matter, they got their certificates anyway. Someone else never handed in his written assignment, and this also didn't matter at all. Meanwhile, four different people joined the course throughout our four weeks of teacher training, but they were supposed to be doing a week-long beginner yoga retreat. These people came at different times (completely uncoordinated throughout our four weeks), received very little to no orientation, and were thrown into doing yoga with the teacher training students! This made no sense for the week-long retreaters, nor for the teaching students. Last, the hotel was very dirty (even for India), and getting them to clean your room was a struggle and a negotiation that required a native Hindi speaker to manage. Although the website advertises that the accommodations come with AC and a hot shower, neither were provided. However, accommodations will change as the school will move to an ashram with in-house accommodations as of the next teacher training course. To conclude, I'll say that the food was fantastic, most of the teachers were lovely people, and the school coordinator was fantastically helpful and friendly. I'm working on making the most that I can out of this course, but I highly recommend you avoid this school. Frankly, if you want to really learn to teach rather than just do yoga, I think the best option is to study in "the west" rather than in India. If you do want to study in India, I don't have a good answer for where you should go. I heard that the World Peace Yoga School was good for beginners, but I have yet to hear someone wholeheartedly recommend the school they went to.
